Four South East projects awarded funding in the government’s “Natural Environment Investment Readiness Fund” announcement

On 14 July, government announced a list of 27 projects to receive funding to better understand how to drive private investment in nature-based projects.  This Natural Environment Investment Readiness Fund has awarded funding to projects which will tackle climate change and restore nature through schemes such as woodland and habitat creation, peatland restoration, sustainable drainage and river catchment management.  Four projects within the South-East have been awarded funding:

Sussex Bay kelp: a carbon model for kelp forest restoration (Adur District & Worthing Borough Councils)

Wilder Carbon Standard (Kent Wildlife Trust)

A Natural Capital Investment Company for Accelerating Delivery of Habitat Banks (Surrey Wildlife Trust)

New Forest Net Zero: Investment Models for Nature Restoration (New Forest National Park Authority)
