Funded Newt Habitat Creation in Sussex

The Newt Conservation Partnership scheme, which delivers habitat creation and restoration for Great Crested Newts, has recently expanded to include East Sussex.

They are looking for sites in the area where habitat could be improved for great crested newts, such as through the creation or restoration of ponds, woodland and meadows. They have full funding to cover the costs of capital work and provide an annual payment to landowners to compensate for loss of income and management requirements. The scheme has an extensive monitoring programme to ensure habitat created remains beneficial for newts and wider wildlife. You can find out about our criteria on our landowner factsheet: https://tinyurl.com/LandownerFactsheet.
